Gucci GG Canvas Belted Tote - early 2000

A vintage Gucci tote in the house’s signature beige and brown GG canvas, finished with dark brown leather and gold-tone hardware.
The shape is quite clean and practical, with shoulder straps, a structured leather base. My favourite detail is the slim buckled leather strap across the front, which gives the otherwise simple monogram tote just enough of that slightly equestrian Gucci feeling.
Styling Tip
I would wear it with loose trousers, a white T-shirt and loafers, or with faded denim, an oversized shirt and a simple leather shoe.
And because the shape is quite narrow and vertical, it works really well as an everyday tote without feeling bulky.
Early 2000s · Tom Ford era
This tote comes from the period when Tom Ford was creative director of Gucci, from 1994 until 2004. His Gucci is usually remembered for the overt glamour of the runway, but the accessories from the period often had a quieter side: classic house codes, rich brown leather, equestrian references and the GG monogram used in very clean, functional shapes.
This bag feels very much part of that language. The monogram is unmistakably Gucci, but the dark leather, small brass buckle and restrained shape keep it from feeling overly logo-driven.

Excellent vintage condition.
The GG canvas remains clean and strong overall. The dark brown leather shows very light surface scratches but remains in great overall condition. The interior is clean overall with light signs of previous use.
Why It Made the Cut
I love the slightly unusual proportions of this one and the fact that the belt detail gives it something extra without trying too hard. It is recognisably Gucci, but not one of those bags you immediately see everywhere.
And it is actually useful. The straps sit comfortably over the shoulder, the shape holds a surprising amount, and the combination of GG canvas and very dark brown leather just gets better with wear.
