The Classic Wallet on Chain takes all the recognisable house codes. Black lambskin, diamond quilting, leather-woven chain and that in this case tiny CC (which I love) and shrinks them down into something much less formal than a Classic Flap.
This one is from 2010–2011, during Karl Lagerfeld’s tenure at Chanel, and has the slightly softer, more lived-in feel I personally love in older lambskin. The silver-tone hardware also makes it feel a little cooler and less precious than the gold versions.
The WOC itself dates back to the late 1990s and was essentially Chanel’s answer to wanting the functionality of a wallet with enough chain to wear it as an actual bag. Inside you get the expected card slots, zipped sections and separate compartments rather than one tiny open cavity.
Styling tip
I actually wouldn’t style this too “Chanel.” Washed blue jeans, a white men’s shirt, black kitten heels. Or a grey oversized knit, sheer skirt and nothing else remotely ladylike.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. The lambskin has developed some creasing. There is also general softening to the structure and light wear to the interior and hardware. (see pics)
Why it made the cut
I like Chanel much more when it looks like someone has actually worn it and the whole thing has lost that slightly too-perfect “special occasion Chanel” feeling. I just love the tiny CC in combination with the silver hardware and the more visible stitching.
