A proper early-2000s Chanel flap from the Karl Lagerfeld era, made in cream jersey with a fine black diamond-grid pattern, contrasted with glossy black patent leather and warm gold-tone hardware.

The elongated East-West shape takes familiar Chanel codes. The CC turn-lock, leather-woven chain strap and rear patch pocket, but makes them feel much less traditional through the graphic textile body and patent leather trim.

This is exactly the kind of Lagerfeld-era Chanel I like: unmistakably Chanel, but a little stranger and much harder to come across than the classic leather flaps.

Condition
Very good vintage condition, especially considering its age. The cream jersey presents beautifully overall with no notable darkening or discoloration. There is very light wear to some of the corners and minor age-related wear to the black patent leather. The bag has retained its structure well and the interior presents nicely with very light surface scratches to the leather on the inside. Please refer closely to the images for the full condition.

Styling
I’d wear this with something quite clean and slightly masculine. Grey trousers, a white tank or with dark denim and a simple knit. The cream, black and gold already have a lot of personality, so it doesn’t need much around it.

Why it made the cut
I love Chanel bags that still have all the house codes but don’t immediately read as a Classic Flap. The East-West shape, almost graphic diamond jersey and glossy patent leather feel very specifically early 2000s, while the chain and CC hardware keep it unmistakably Chanel. It’s also one of those pieces that looks much more interesting now than it probably did when it was new.
